What is Sistas Who Lunch?
Sistas Who Lunch is a monthly midday meetup for Black women in Boise and the wider Treasure Valley, Idaho. It's hosted by First Fridays Boise and gathers on the third Friday of each month, from 12:00 to 1:30 PM, at a different local restaurant each time. RSVPs are free, seating is limited, and each attendee pays for her own meal.
It's more than just a lunch. It's a moment to exhale, be seen, and connect in a space where you don't have to explain your brilliance, your beauty, or your journey. Whether you were born and raised here, landed in Boise last month, or have been here for years and stayed on purpose — this is your seat at the table.
You deserve to take up space. You deserve moments of ease, connection, and community — right in the middle of your week.
If you've never come before
Here's exactly what happens.
The hardest part is walking in the first time. So there are no surprises — this is the whole thing.
Someone is watching for you
You'll be welcomed by name and walked to the table. Nobody sits alone or hovers by the door wondering if they're in the right place.
Lunch, your way
Everyone orders and pays for her own meal. Order big, order light, order just coffee — nobody is counting.
Or you just listen
There's usually a light conversation starter. You're never put on the spot, and "I'm just here to be around folks today" is a full sentence.
Fuller than you came
Ninety minutes, done by 1:30. Most sisters leave with a new number in their phone and a reason to come back.

I was very honored to be part of the inaugural Sistas Who Lunch years ago at Bardenay. I’m so excited to see that the tradition has continued, and I look forward to seeing new faces in this space that I didn’t realize I needed. It helps fill a void being so far away from my sistas in Florida. I feel blessed to be part of such a wonderful and fulfilling group of SISTAS!!!
As a fourth-generation Idahoan, I understand how important it is to create spaces where Black women can come together, feel seen, and celebrate each other. There is something really special about being in a room with women who understand the importance of community, connection, and lifting one another up. I’m so grateful to Angela for creating Sistas Who Lunch and for giving us another beautiful space to connect, laugh, share, and support one another. I’m truly honored to be a part of it.
Moving from Chicago to Boise recently was very hard. Starting over is always an adventure and I was very thankful for the support from Sistas Who Lunch. The ladies are genuinely supportive and welcoming. It is nice to meet new people of all ages and feel included.

Who is Sistas Who Lunch for?
Black women who live, work, study, or spend time in Boise and the Treasure Valley — including Meridian, Garden City, Nampa, Eagle, Caldwell and Kuna. Longtime Idahoans, brand-new arrivals, and everyone in between.
How much does it cost?
The RSVP is free. Each attendee pays for her own meal and beverages at the restaurant.
I don't know anyone. Is that weird?
Not even a little — most sisters come alone the first time. You'll be welcomed by name and seated with the group. Coming by yourself is the most normal thing here.
When and where does it meet?
The third Friday of every month, 12:00 to 1:30 PM Mountain Time, at a rotating local restaurant around the Treasure Valley. Dates occasionally shift around holidays — the mailing list always has the current schedule.
I work a 9-to-5. How do people make a Friday lunch work?
Many sisters use a long lunch break, flex time, or a half-day — which is why we hold it to 90 minutes and end promptly at 1:30, and why we rotate locations across the Valley so it's sometimes near your office. We're also adding occasional weekend and evening gatherings; join the mailing list to hear about those first.
Do I have to RSVP?
Yes. Seating is intentionally limited to keep the gathering intimate, so every sister registers individually. If your plans change, please update your RSVP so another sister can take the seat.
Can I bring a friend?
Please do — just have her register on her own so we can save her a seat too.
What if I have dietary needs or accessibility requests?
There's a place to tell us when you register, and we'll do our best to make the experience comfortable for you.
Who hosts it?
Sistas Who Lunch is a gathering of First Fridays Boise, a community organization building connection and opportunity for Black and multicultural professionals across Idaho's Treasure Valley.
